Details: Review It's in her voice and especially in the attitude she brings to this string of roadhouse tunes. -- The Gazette, May 17 2001 Amazon.ca After spending a quarter of a century in pop music, the indefatigable Nanette Workman returns to her roots with music that dives into the origins of her childhood. In a past life, she was a backing vocalist for Johnny Hallyday, a disco queen (“Lady Marmalade”), and then a rock muse in Luc Plamondon's operas. This time, Nanette, in her early fifties, returns to the dusty paths of her native Mississippi. This is a blues album that suits her wonderfully. The soul and gospel ramifications perfectly embrace the gravelly vocal cords of the singer, who is in splendid form here. The result is all the more convincing because guitarist Steve Hill catalyzes the lady’s fervor with his subtle slides and syncopated chords. Nothing here is fake! -- Claude Côté
