Details: Product Description Throughout his life Edward Bloom (Ewan McGregor) has always been a man of big appetites, enormous passions and tall tales. In his later years, portrayed by five-time Best Actor Oscar(r) nominee Albert Finney (Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Erin Brockovich, 2000), he remains a huge mystery to his son, William (Billy Crudup). Now, to get to know the real man, Will begins piecing together a true picture of his father from flashbacks of his amazing adventures in this marvel of a movie. Amazon.ca A true fable for adults, Big Fish, adapted from the novel by Daniel Wallace, once again proves that its director, Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Ed Wood), is one of the rare filmmakers who has managed to preserve a fantastic universe within the American cinematic landscape. Summoned to the bedside of his ailing father, Ed, young William Bloom is determined to distinguish truth from fiction in the stories his father has always told about his life. How can one believe, after all, in these mythical legends involving witches, giants, and Siamese cabaret singers? By deliberately plunging into the extraordinary while illustrating Ed's fabulous tales, Tim Burton puts his poetry and whimsy at the service of a story about imagination and legacy. Relying on the energy of Ewan McGregor (young Ed) and the sensitivity of Albert Finney (old Ed), the film also utilizes the talents of such engaging performers as Jessica Lange, Helena Bonham Carter, Danny DeVito, Steve Buscemi, and Marion Cotillard. With refined and inventive direction that beautifully emphasizes the epic dimension of its narrative, Big Fish emerges as a film that is as enchanted as it is enchanting. – Helen Faradji.
