Details: Product Description After 350 performances of "Starmania" in France, Belgium, and Switzerland, Isabelle Boulay left behind the character of Marie-Jeanne. Following more than 40,000 copies sold of the television series soundtrack "Alys Robi" and over 30,000 copies of her first record "Fallait pas," Isabelle Boulay returns with "États d'amour," a manifesto on love life. Written by Luc Plamondon, Roger Tabra, Zachary Richard, Zazie, Cébastien, and Michel Barbeau, with music by Richard Cocciante, France D'amour, and Mario Peluso, this new album captures the full measure of Isabelle's talent. Written, composed, and recorded around her voice, "États d'amour" throws wide the doors to Isabelle Boulay's musical and personal universe. Arranged and produced by Olivier Bloch-Lainé (notably known for Zachary Richard's "Cap Enragé") and Gérard Bikialo (notably known as a producer for Francis Cabrel), "États d'amour" offers us 16 short stories, including the classics "C'était l'hiver" by Francis Cabrel, "L'Hymne à la beauté du monde" featuring a choir of forty children and a string quartet, and "Blanche comme la neige." Amazon.ca The first album by the Gaspésie native with the raspy, powerful voice, released in 1996, had been met with a very cold reception from critics. But the winds turned for Isabelle Boulay with États d'amour, launched in 1998. Supported by lyrics and music from proven artists—Zachary Richard, Zazie, Luc Plamondon, Richard Cocciante, Roger Tabra, and Mario Peluso—the performer found composers equal to her talent. États d'amour contains several memorable tracks: "Le Saule," "Je t'oublierai, je t'oublierai," "Tombée de toi"... The great strength of this record lies in the mix—both effective and moving—of pop, rock, country, and folk, which suits the singer better than the radio-friendly polish she served up for her first attempt. And even if she didn't write any of the lyrics herself, one senses the strong personality of this great performer here. --Frédéric Boudreault
