Although the fight scenes are choreographed to the millimeter, the lighting is meticulously crafted, the camera movements are as fluid as a snake's, and the hero—who is neither subtle nor sentimental—is perfectly in control, something seems to be missing from this ultra-graphic, ultra-violent comic-book-style Blade II.
