Bleu Jeans Bleu returns with a second record and an arsenal of potential earworms. Fuller, rockier, and soul-infused, the grandiose Franchement Wow captures the band's onstage energy. On this new album, the denim-clad quartet sings the praises of fried fruit, pudding, hangovers, and Winnebagos. It keeps that effective country-soul-alternative vibe, but adds a dash of disco-gluttony. Expect to keep that grin plastered on your face...
This time around, the goal was also to consider all the nuances of this intentionally questionable project. In addition to directing and producing this second album, Mathieu Lafontaine and Christian-Adam Gilbert chose to release it on their brand-new independent label, Chalet Musique. As much to take the reins as to be able to work without limits, the goal remained to make good music that makes you feel good. Because while the project was initially reserved for friends, since the release of their first full-length album, cleverly titled Haute Couture (Gold) in November 2013, the Bleus have played over fifty shows — Festival d'été de Québec, International des montgolfières de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Woodstock en Beauce, Place des Arts. From that album came the songs Vulnérable comme un bébé chat and J’te gâte all dressed, both widely played on commercial radio, with the latter ending 2015 in 3rd place on the year's top Francophone list at CKOI 96.9.
