Author: Dupain

Format: Import

Release Date: 27-04-2004

Details: After a more than promising debut, Dupain returns with their Mediterranean trance now enriched by a bassist and the significant presence of Bumcello. Out go the samples, leaving even more room for the acoustics and the melodies of Pierre-Louis Bertolino’s hurdy-gurdy. This Marseille-based group is broadening its horizons, and one can now feel the pervasive influence of flamenco in the haunted chants of Occitan singer Samuel Karpienia. These modern-day troubadours never succumb to exotic folklore, carving out deeply moving lyrics supported by a mandolin that evokes Italy. As for the sound engineering, which is excellent, it was entrusted to Jean-Pierre Sluys, known for his work alongside Bill Laswell. A great distance has been covered since their previous album. --Hervé Comte
