Details: Amazon.ca Moving away from the rock rhythms and hushed atmospheres of Cap Enragé, with Cœur fidèle, Zachary Richard delivers a purely Louisianan album. This is evidenced by a typically Cajun rhythm section, where drums and percussion are put to extensive use ("Jœ Ferraille", "Pagayez"), a playful and jovial tone representative of the exuberance of his people ("Écrevisses", "Jésus en arrière"), and lyrics that reveal his concerns: uprooting, assimilation, and the resilience of his people ("Massachusetts", "Contre vents, Contre marées"). Telling his stories with minimalist poetry and creating endearing characters, Zachary Richard delivers a warm album where each track, including his new versions of "Réveil" and "Un Autre Baiser", is crafted with care. While it is true that Cœur fidèle does not win you over as easily as its predecessor, one nonetheless succumbs to it. -- Nicolas Houle
