Several tracks reached the top of global charts, including the funky "Maniac," but it was with "What A Feeling" that the German composer demonstrated his full class. Against polished visuals showing a Jennifer Beals who was as much a gymnast as a ballet virtuoso, "What A Feeling" turned Irene Cara into a global star. But Flashdance is also an entire electronic environment in the service of a perfectly targeted film. From track to track, we are reminded of the "sound" of the 80s, along with a bygone era of total frivolity. Invigorating music that you can't stop humming along to. Didier Leprêtre
