Harmonium XLV: 45th Anniversary A remastered and remixed version of the first album from this legendary band! Harmonium, one of the most important Quebec groups of the 70s, whose music has become timeless, achieved artistic and commercial success both in French in Quebec and in English Canada. The trio, founded by Serge Fiori, Louis Valois, and Michel Normandeau, started in Montreal in 1973. It immediately carved out a place between the intimate ballads of the singer-songwriters and the bold sound of the progressive rock of the era. Their innovative sound, blending rock, folk, and jazz, quickly propelled them to the top of the charts. In early January 1974, Harmonium recorded their first album, which, in just a few months, sold more than 100,000 copies. With Harmonium's popularity growing at a staggering speed, the band quickly moved from small concert halls and campuses to the biggest stages in the province, such as La Place des Arts in Montreal. It all culminated in outdoor concerts before crowds sometimes exceeding hundreds of thousands of people. Their success took them to Toronto and Vancouver, California, and Europe. As Harmonium became one of Quebec's most popular musical groups, all their albums received multiple platinum certifications, and they also became recipients of various honorary awards, several Félix awards, and even an induction into the SOCAN, recognizing the importance of their work. For over forty years, the music of Harmonium has continued to inspire a multitude of artists such as Sylvain Cossette, Boom Desjardins, Eleanor McCain, and Lawrence Gowan. "Rediscovering the original tracks of Harmonium was a pure joy, and it gives even more meaning to 'We brought someone into the world, perhaps we should listen to them'." Serge Fiori. "Spring 1974: at the wheel of my car, I hear 'Pour un instant' on the radio for the first time. I stop dead on the side of the street, completely shaken. 'It is no longer ours, it belongs to the world now,' I told myself. I was so happy!" Michel Normandeau. "Memory is important. It was with the greatest respect that we revisited this album. Giving it a makeover while keeping its soul intact is the thought that followed me throughout our process."
