Details: Product Description Stan Getz Amazon.ca Stan Getz in Paris, Salle Pleyel, November 13, 1966. He was expected with Astrud Gilberto. They had a falling out, so Getz performed his concert as a quartet, with Steve Swallow on double bass and Roy Haynes on drums. The latter, an old accomplice of the saxophonist, gives the group extra soul. Gary Burton on vibraphone had been a member since 1964. All of them have strong personalities. Haynes ensures a long drum solo. Burton reserves "Edelweiss" for his instrument alone. The group plays "Singing Song," one of his compositions, a complex theme that Getz had long since adopted. He grants the audience a bossa nova and abandons himself to lyricism in "When The World Was Young," a French song once recorded by Édith Piaf, a ballad with the grandiose excess of his singing. --Pierre de Chocqueuse
