Details: Product description Cirque Du Soleil ~ Cirque Du Soleil: La Nouba Amazon.ca Benoit Jutras' music for La Nouba is undoubtedly one of the most eclectic ever created for Cirque du Soleil. This is hardly surprising, given that this show, whose soundtrack was recorded in Orlando, juxtaposes fiercely opposing worlds. Dreams and nightmares, magic and reality are translated into music through unusual blends of genres: a meeting of monastic music, rap, and soul ("A Tale"), a dialogue between raï rhythms and synthesizers ("Distorted"), and a crossroads of musette and electronic sounds ("Queens"). Throughout the album, accents of traditional circus music persist, grafted with modulated voices that evoke now the flight of a diver or the delicate step of a tightrope walker, now the wild choreography of a troupe of acrobats. A long-time collaborator of Cirque du Soleil, Benoit Jutras has composed the soundtracks for shows such as Quidam and O, as well as the film Journey of Man. With La Nouba, he demonstrates the full extent of his talent and imagination. -- Julie Sergent
