Abandoned by his mother at a very young age and placed in the care of child protective services, Malony is transferred from one foster family to another, never forming an attachment to anything or anyone. Becoming a troubled adolescent, he frequently faces a juvenile court judge who no longer knows what to do to handle this seemingly indomitable case. As a last resort, the boy is entrusted to a caseworker, who attempts to rectify the situation through a special program. Unfortunately, the process will not be without tears, pain, and effort...

Abandoned by his mother at the age of 6, Malony is constantly in and out of juvenile court. An adoptive family grows around this young delinquent: Florence, a children's magistrate nearing retirement, and Yann, a caseworker and himself the survivor of a very difficult childhood. Together they follow the boy's journey and try unfailingly to save him. Then Malony is sent to a stricter educational center, where he meets Tess, a very special young girl who shows him that there are reasons for hope.
