Author: Sicard, Luc

Details: It’s impossible to forget the The Edge-esque guitar chords that punctuated the theme of the show La Vie La Vie. Hundreds of thousands of viewers followed this wonderful series, which featured five endearing thirty-somethings grappling with numerous existential questions. In addition to the dynamic direction of Patrice Sauvé and the spot-on writing of Stéphane Bourguignon, Luc Sicard's soundtrack, practically inseparable from the whole, was among the essential elements of its success—a rather rare feat in television.

The modern rhythms, sometimes ethereal, sometimes electrifying, hold up quite well without the action they originally supported. A track as emotive as "La Vie La Vie," for example, will draw a few tears. The short, classic air of "Métro Boulot Boulot" is imbued with urban frenzy, while the soaring "Louise" and "Une Femme" evoke the dizziness of love. It must be said that Sicard was able to count on the warm voice of Jessica Vigneault, the trumpet of Maxime St-Pierre, and the sampling of Carl Bastien (who produced Daniel Bélanger’s Rêver mieux). We therefore welcome with joy the release of this soundtrack, which will bring back very beautiful memories for all fans of the series. --Frédéric Boudreault
