Details: Amazon.ca Gabrielle Destroismaisons may only be 21, but she already boasts quite a track record. Her debut album, Etc…, released in 2000, quickly brought her to the spotlight, earning her three radio hits, 100,000 copies sold, and a Félix award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Fans of the singer will feel right at home with La vie qui danse, a second record composed of a similar blend of pop and rock, rhythmic tracks, and ballads. Her solid voice has gained resonance over time, and the Guy Cloutier label protégée has become more personally involved in the creative process, writing three sets of lyrics and adding her touch to some of the music. The young woman shares her state of mind without modesty, especially in the very touching "J'ai tout donné." It is a real shame that she covered Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" with such syrupy arrangements. Aside from this drawback, La vie qui danse marks an undeniable evolution for Gabrielle Destroismaisons and bodes well for the years to come. --Frédéric Boudreault
