Release Date: 03-11-2014
Details: A singer-songwriter born in Drummondville and a trained musician, Francis D’Octobre spent the turn of the 2000s-2010s accompanying Louise Forestier, Catherine Major, and Les Tireux de roches. In 2010, he released his first record, *Ma bête fragile*, an album that earned him significant recognition: a nomination for the Félix-Leclerc prize as well as in the POP album of the year category, he won the songwriter of the year award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, and was a finalist for the Grand prix de la relève Archambault. He is also a recipient of the Loto-Québec "Entrée en scène" tour. For this second record, he enlisted the services of his long-time companion Jeannot Bournival for production (Fred Pellerin) and arrangements, and Ghislain-Luc Lavigne for mixing. Accompanying him on instruments: Mathieu Désy (bass), Simon Blouin (drums), Alexis Dumais (piano), and Jocelyn Tellier (electric guitar). Also present on the recording: Audrey-Michelle Simard (backing vocals), a string quartet, and a brass duo. Francis plays guitar, percussion, and vibraphone. These deeply personal songs by Francis D’Octobre reveal the maturity of a young man of great sensitivity, gifted with an elegant and intoxicating pop writing style, and a knack for melodies that stick in the memory. One will particularly note the songs "Jouets de guerre," "Ma plénitude," "Les commun des immortels," and other lovely pieces revolving around love, whether dark or luminous.
