Details: To get revenge on his brother who slept with his wife, Eric quickly leaves Montreal, having extracted all the money from the company they both own. Taking refuge in a cottage on a lake on the border of Quebec and the United States, unusual events soon disturb his solitude. Philippe Morel, a neighbor, tells him about the legend that surrounds the place, called the Lake of Lost Souls. When he ventures into the nearby village, Eric becomes infatuated with an exotic dancer, who moves in with him, hoping to escape a violent policeman who’s in love with her. However, their relationship doesn’t last and she leaves. Shortly after, a notorious criminal who just escaped from prison arrives and threatens Eric and Philippe. // Betrayed by those closest to him, a man in his late thirties wants to flee humanity by isolating himself in a cottage on the edge of a lake. Far from finding peace, he will soon be dealing with a whimsical neighbor, an unfindable drowning victim, a fugitive bandit, a dancer who takes refuge at his place, and a policeman who is madly in love with her and searching for her with murderous passion. The action takes place essentially at Mystery Lake, in the wild beauty of a secluded place where nature soon becomes distressing with the howling of coyotes, the cry of loons, a body floating underwater, and the criminal prowling the surroundings. The protagonists who find themselves in this natural "huis clos" often have unusual behaviors, as if the lake made everyone a little crazy... This drama turns out to be fundamentally a story of love and friendship between two men and a woman, all three wounded in different ways by their family history.
