Details: Amazon.ca With No Self Control, the fourth album from The Planet Smashers, the Montreal ska band delivers the most solid record of their entire career. Thanks to the production of Steven Drake (Tragically Hip, France D’Amour), the quintet has diversified its arrangements and added depth to its music. Without losing their irresistible pop edge, The Planet Smashers incorporate elements of rock, reggae, and more traditional ska. This energetic mix is enhanced by the inspired compositions of singer and guitarist Matt Collyer, who has moved away from antics to focus on more personal subjects. Even though he hasn't lost his biting outlook (as evidenced by the irony-filled lyrics of "Wish I Were American"), he also tackles serious issues, such as heartbreak in "It's Over." The brass section, the band's trademark, has never sounded better. --Frédéric Boudreault Product Description The Planet Smashers
