Details: Amazon.ca Gérard Lesne is, first and foremost, a voice like no other. He is also an artist with tremendous intuition who does not settle for exploring "a" repertoire. He confronts it with other experiences, more or less classical, but all highly musical. This album is a reconstructed recital of the most beautiful arias for alto, the most famous of which, Handel's Ombra mai fu, gives us the title. Because Gérard Lesne also knows popular music, his baroque speaks to us immediately. He knows how to convince us in just a few notes of the great modernity of this music. --Marc Aigneaux
