Details: An emerging duo from the Quebec rock/stoner/grunge scene, Oktoplut made their debut in 2012 by releasing a first 3-song EP. The group has only existed for a short time, but the two members possess a solid musical background, having been part of several bands in the past. Mathieu ‘’Mathias’’ Forcier on guitar (also a member of the band Prevenge, which has toured worldwide) and Laurence ‘’Larry’’ Fréchette on drums in Oktoplut, but a multi-tasking musician in several other bands, including Nuance Noire, a group praised by the Coup de coeur francophone festival in 2012. Oktoplut stands out for the amount of decibels generated on stage and for the fact that the group's drummer is also the lead singer. Despite the influence of North American English-speaking bands such as Solids, Metz, Torch, and Nirvana, the guys compose in French. Contrary to what the band's name might suggest, which is taken from the French translation of the James Bond film ‘’Octopussy’’, Oktoplut offers us songs with deep and thoughtful lyrics. The guys will head into the studio in mid-February to deliver a first album for May 2014.
