Details: Product Description 'Pour Madame X' is Arthur H's newest studio album since the successful 'Trouble Fête' in 1996. This album, composed in a 'cabaret' style, will seduce all those who have not yet discovered his magical musical universe. Amazon.ca A fumbling double bass and teasing cymbals raise the curtain on a lascivious and singular “Mystic Rhumba”: the tone of Pour Madame X is set. Arthur H reveals himself to be more inspired than ever on this fourth studio album, surrounded by long-time friends (Brad Scott on double bass, Nicolas Repac on guitar) and new accomplices from the Orchestre de la lune (brass and percussion). The voice is still raspy, but seems more at peace. The arrangements, by turns hushed or joyfully intoxicating, flow naturally to serve an astonishing, absurd, and penetrating poetry. Where does this apparent maturity come from? Perhaps he has finally found in “Madame X” the “ideal woman” he had hoped for since Trouble-Fête, his previous album. Is she the digital voice encountered on the quasi-disco “www.com” who promises him full-screen coitus? Or perhaps the burning Lhasa de Sela who joins him on a sensual “Indiana Lullaby”? Arthur H is, however, far from having converted to romanticism, and with tracks like “Haka Dada,” a throbbing jazz piece with rap inflections, we find his predilection for surrealist delirium. A spiritual younger brother to Tom Waits, an experimental jazzman without pretending to be avant-garde, a poet with an expression as touching as it is Dadaist, Arthur H transports us once again, with Pour Madame X, into his rich and detached musical universe. --Nathalie Farage
