Details: Product Description Locked in a room from which she watches a crowd of men approach, a young woman, promised to whoever has enough dollars in his pocket to believe he is the chosen one, transcribes between clients the incantations that still keep her alive. There rises a song of pleasure and death, scandalously intimate, and yet containing something archaic and invasive, even universal. An incestuous, phantasmagorical, and obsessional book, which is as much a laying bare, a scream, as it is an exorcism. About the Author Born in Quebec, on the edge of Maine, in 1975, Nelly Arcan was also the author of acclaimed novels, notably Folle, available in the Points collection. She took her own life in September 2009 in Montreal.
