Details: Amazon.ca Preceded by the summery single "AKH", Philippe Fragione, known as Akhenaton, alias Chill or Sentenza, still on leave from IAM, shakes up the orderly world of French hip-hop with a second solo effort titled Sol Invictus (Invincible Sun). This workaholic, who has already produced the original soundtrack for his first feature film Comme un aimant and the funky rap project Electrocypher this year, gives birth to a philosophy scattered with esoteric clues within the soul of "Quand ça se disperse", the dub of "Le Fiston", or the 80's electronics. Converted to Islam in the 90s, Akhenaton remains a first-rate observer, now imbued with a subtle integrity and sharpness. His refined style, dedicated to the singer Aaliyah and Commander Massoud, benefits from inventive features by Sako or Hal of Chiens de Paille, Dadou of KDD, or Shurik'N. In short, the new episode of Akhenaton's adventures, set in the heart of a triangle formed by Naples, Marseille, and Brooklyn, proves to be as thrilling as the first installment written in 1995, Métèque et Mat. --Sabrina Silamo
