Details: Product Description Two-time Academy Award® winner* Denzel Washington (Training Day) is "fantastic [in this] inventive, exciting and spellbinding thriller" ("The Movie Network") co-starring Eva Mendes (2 Fast 2 Furious), Sanaa Lathan (Blade) and Dean Cain ("Lois & Clark"). In Banyan Key, a small Florida town surrounded by azure seas and sultry secrets, Chief of Police Matt Whitlock (Washington) finds himself caught in the eye of a storm and about to get blown away. Investigating the murder of a woman he was secretly seeing, Matt races to uncover a murky trail of stolen money, drugs and deceit, all the while staying two steps ahead of his own detectives because all the evidence points to him! *2001: Actor, Training Day; 1989: Supporting Actor, Glory Amazon.ca A fervent user of the Hollywood thriller formula, director Carl Franklin reunites with Denzel Washington after The Devil in a Blue Dress for Out of Time, a fairly well-crafted suspense film that the two-time Oscar-winning actor carries entirely on his own sturdy shoulders. Matt Whitlock is the police chief of Banyan Key, a small town in Florida. Separated from his wife, Alex, who is also a detective, he is having an affair with a young and pretty married woman named Ann. But when she and her husband are murdered, Matt must conduct the investigation alongside his ex, even as all the leads point to him as the perfect suspect. Following the same path as The Fugitive or Presumed Innocent, Out of Time shares the race against time of a man accused by everything. Playing cat and mouse with the police, the hero can nonetheless count on the help of a loyal friend, a rather amusing supporting role played by John Billingsley. Driven essentially by the charisma of Denzel Washington and by fairly polished direction, despite a rather unsubtle emphasis on tension effects, the film relies on a rather conventional script and gives the viewer what they are entitled to expect: a bit of tension, action, and adrenaline. Nothing more. – Helen Faradji.
