Details: Based on the legendary novel by pulp writer Jim Thompson, Michael Winterbottom's THE KILLER INSIDE ME tells the story of a handsome, charming, unassuming small town sheriff's deputy named Lou Ford (Casey Affleck). The film takes place in an idyllic West Texas town in the early 1950’s. As a lifelong resident, Ford has difficulty juggling his long-term girlfriend Amy (Kate Hudson), the prostitute named Joyce (Jessica Alba) that he mistakenly falls for, and the sociopathic tendencies inside him. In Thompson’s savage, bleak, blacker than noir universe nothing is ever what it seems. ----- Oscar-nominated actor Casey Affleck (The Assassination of Jesse James) delivers the most stunning performance of his career in this crime drama in which he plays the controversial role of a small-town sheriff where bodies are mysteriously piling up. The Killer Inside Me also stars Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four), Oscar-nominated actress Kate Hudson (Almost Famous), Emmy-nominated actor Simon Baker (The Ring Two), and Bill Pullman (Independence Day). When tasked with driving a talkative and insufferable prostitute out of town, the sheriff realized it would be easier to just get rid of her. But to cover up that murder, he has to eliminate nosy witnesses, then others, and still more. Although the situation becomes increasingly complicated, he finds more and more diabolical pleasure in committing these abominable atrocities, which are far more satisfying than a simple arrest. Inspired by the popular novel by writer Jim Thompson (The Grifters), The Killer Inside Me is "a solid, class-apart thriller" (Guardian UK) that highlights the dangerous dark side of certain ruthless lawmen.
