Details: Product description Jagger,Mick ~ Wandering Spirit Amazon.ca In the early 80s, whether it was Still Life or Undercover, the Rolling Stones seemed worn out. At least according to the critics, even if public success was still there. It wasn't until the end of that decade that "the world's greatest rock 'n' roll band" made a triumphant comeback with the punchy Steel Wheels. Regardless, the 80s left their mark on leader Mick Jagger, who eventually began to doubt their infallibility. We thought the Stones were indestructible, but like everyone else, they were running out of steam, and Jagger, being clever, took advantage of this lull for a few solo excursions. First there was She's The Boss, certainly the most interesting with its slightly funky groove courtesy of bassists Bill Laswell (Material) and Nile Rodgers (Chic), then Primitive Cool and Wandering Spirit in the early 90s. Here, Jagger seeks a new lease on life and enlists the services of producer Rick Rubin (Beastie Boys, Slayer, Johnny Cash...). Less funky, Wandering Spirit is well worth the albums from the Stones' later period, to which it bears some similarities. --Philippe Robert
