Details: Product Description Vangelis Amazon.ca To celebrate the five-hundredth anniversary of the discovery of America, Ridley Scott directed 1492: Conquest of Paradise, starring Gérard Depardieu in the title role. The music was entrusted to the great Vangelis, who had already composed the superb score for Blade Runner with the same director. Completely inspired by the subject, Vangelis wrote an exceptional work, with all twelve tracks on the album bordering on perfection. "City of Isabel," "Deliverance," and "Light and Shadows" are all characteristic passages of the Vangelis style, which added a whole ethnic (Spanish guitar, Iberian sounds, etc.) and choral layer to his usual electronic and melodic components. The harmonic lines find their center in the sublime "Conquest of Paradise," a magnificent ode to discovery and freedom where the composer is accompanied by more than a hundred choristers. Between technique and inspiration, Vangelis has never been so impressive. A soundtrack that makes us conquer paradise! Didier Leprêtre
